ok so last nyt hatta n i met up with huzer n his cousin rizal(i think dat's how it's spelt.) from germany. bcos they made us(read: ME) wait for so long and since we(read: I) was so super hungry, and jus cos i felt like exploiting someone, i made huzer treat us breeks. *beams* wa-at? de guy has a membership discount there aftrall.

we had dinner in town, and pretty much jus sat ard n talked. abt wat, u ask? well, lemme see. umm.
soccer, cars, army, guns, german army, cars in germany, german guns, driving in germany, playstation, xbox, off-field-on-screen soccer(winning eleven), car workshops, car radios, do i sense a pattern here? (strangely, these boys don't talk abt girls. or maybe cos i was there. hmm.)
yea so my contribution to the conversations going on pretty much ranged from:
"umm, wat's distribution?"
"are you going to get playstation 3?"
"why can't nasir and rizal play in the same team?"

yup. and since i felt so outnumbered, i dint take any pictures! bcos i dint think pple who talk abt nothing but army, guns, cars and soccer would be too thrilled to be smiling into cameras. yes. sadly. i was alone. oh, so alone.

butBUT. i had a superwonderfullyyummilicious lunch today with ZATzatbobat and SU-eygooeybobooey!! aaaaaaat swensens. dint take too many pictrs tho cos dint feel picture-ish (*gasp!*) aaaaaaaand su desperately wantd to hit fos and zat, xodus while i, the office. *snort*
aaargh i totalli miss hanging out with them, chilling with them, being with them in school can! :( i hear of all the latest happenings in school and eerghh i wanna be there too! boo. oh oh andAND zat's applying for sep while su for summer school!! waaahh!! *claps-hands* hepibody going evrywerevrywer! how great is that! *beams-bigger*

oh and i realised today at lunch that i'v been hving western for like 3 meals in a row! yiikes. lunch yest tenderbest half spring chicken, dinner yest cajun blacken fish and lunch today fish and chips. yiikes. unhealthyunhealthy. tsktsk.

oh oh and work ends tmro! good cause then i'l be free-er, bad cause i'v had a good time here and it's jus really nice. :) but oh well, as they say all good things must come to an end, butBUT, only temporarily i hope! may come back here, may try for anothr research institute. :)
andAND presentation run with big bosses' assistants was jus now. went rather smoothly, but as usual, i talk too fast. haii. pls pple! speedtalking is not a bad thing! esp since i'm going to be presenting to big brains tmro can. not slow blur retards. butBUT. shal work on the speed part, nevertheless. slowly yani, slowly.

ok so it's 5:46pm, 14min to dismissal, as they say in school. haha. wat's the word for the office?
toodle-oo!

oc tonyt oc tonyt oc tonyt!~ *claps-hands*

oh dear.
i actually feel camera-deprived.
feels like it's been so long since i took a picture.
i forgot my camera on saturday (and while i was expressing sorrow and disappointment over it, hatta was busily punching his fist in the air, going "yes!" triumphantly), which was a pity cos i was wearing a gorgeous new soft-corduroy cream-coloured fishtail skirt which was going at marks&spencer for onehundred&twentynine dollars, but which i bought at fos for S$14.90. *jumps-for-joy*
thanks to shoppingmaster, hanna-san!
the skirt swishes around my calves so prettily, i am so fascinated by it. i actually walk with my eyes on my feet jus to watch my swishing skirt. haha.

der's fos at hollandv which is like perfect cos that's wer i go for lunch during work. sOo. lunch is wolfed down (at least as much wolfing as i am capable of) and we scurry over to scout for good bargains and yummy deals. at least all i do is scout n look at watevr i pass by, but kak hanna? nooo.. she has a whole route mapped out, it's become a mission! it's like operation seize-hollandv.
"ok i'v covered this building and that last week, but i haven't checked out that one and there's more down there."

hmm. work is ending in 4 days. aaaaand presentation is in 3 and 4 days. one for big bosses' assistants to see that you are presentable enough for big bosses, and one for big bosses. oh yes, i was in the middle of scripting out my presentation.
"the molecule then undergoes a condensation reaction to generate the macromer form, with the C=C double bonds at its ends, and the chemical structure confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance."

so toodle-oo!

oh and yes i have my camera with me today, so no sorrow and disappointment tonyt!

you camerawhore, you.

my spontaneity-run ran thru to lunch today!

whoopdeedoo!

i love oc i love oc i love oc!

|
| 8:41 am

i love spontaneity!

first.
my daddy pickd me up from work. and then dropped me off at tampines mall where no(r)-ha(r)m-done, raf-i-dah, huzer and hatta met up for 20min, hanging around the escalator at level2 trying to convince raf-i-dah not to go for ngaji cause she had touched babi skin anyway. but raf-i-dah's halo shone strong and bright and her moral strength and will managed to overcome all dugaan syaitan(s) and off we went in huzer's rattling beetle to send her home. *kudos to raf-i-dah! -alhamdulillah!- hehehehe* oh and that was when i witnessd for the first time raf-i-dah's violent act as a girlfren "punishing" huzer. tsktsk huzer. *way to go raf-i-dah! -syabas!- hahahah*

then.
we picked up huzer's granny! (note: firs sign of family element) i love grannies! they'r jus reali cute and i get so entertained by the way they talk about life and how old they are. hehe. she said
1. about taking huzer's rattling beetle - macam naik kapal terbang.. (the driving or the noise? haha)
2. she used to have a driving licence, and when we asked her about it - nak bawak kereta? nak bawak kaki sendiri dah susah..
hahaha ok so we sent her to huzer's house, where hatta and huzer maghrib-ed. *wOw!* (bright halos!) we were supposed to rush off after they were done, but huzer's mum invited us for dinner, and although huzer suggested packing it and eating on the go, hatta had settled in at the dining table, made himself comfortable and was helping himself to corn-on-the-cob. (and there was pita bread and yummy creamy sauce) so we thought oh wat the hell let's just eat here. so we dined with huzer's mummy, daddy and granny, where we learnt about how huzer was as a kid. hahaha how family-ly right?

next.
we met up with kak long and uli! more family-ness! haha we rattled back down to tampines mall, caught up with them and trooped over to that shop. you-wouldn't-steal-a-handbag.you-wouldn't-steal-a-handphone. tsktsk. followed by $4/- sundae at swensens! mMmmMm! for value-for-money-ness we all bought TowerIng TempTaTIons, the most expensive item on offer. and my dear didnt feel so um left behind and um slow. haha (feels good to be on the other side right baby?) ;)

in summary.
it was a GREAT night!
good food (thankiu huzer's mummy!), great company, lots of laughs and lots of ice-cream!
and with baby love there.. what more need i ask for?
*beams*

Monday, August 15 | 3:58 pm

(i wanted to blog abt saturday - i had a great time doing nothing, sitting ard telling silly stories, solving riddles, playing csi.. haha i love doing nothing with frens! nothing says quality bonding time like sitting ard doing nothing! cos see dis way u do nothing but focus your attention on your frens.. how bonding-ing is that! *griin* ok i dint take too many pictures but enuf i think. wil upload later.)

ok so. dis entry is abt sthg else.

how much do we really know abt shisha? yes i know it's been ard for years, centuries even. but what is shisha really? is it really bad? is it harmless flavord wood? or is dat wat dey tell u?

i was talking to kak hanna, who knows someone (a doctor i presume, or at least someone associated w de public health sector) working at the ministry of health. he apparently, is all for educating the public abt shisha and its effects. is it harmful, u ask?

regardless, his concern lies in the mushrooming of shisha bars all over the country, if not the world. it's become vry popular indeed.

yet, so little is known, or made known to the public.

i was personally confused and unsure of shisha. hence, i decided to look it up and read abt it.

What is shisha?
Shisha is tobacco mixed with molasses and fruit flavors and is smoked in a hookah. Shisha tobacco is not your typical tobacco. It's nothing like the tobacco you find in cigars, cigarettes, or dip. No, smoking true nargile shisha is an entirely different sensation. Shisha Tobacco is the best as it's been well-documented in the media, the tobacco in cigarettes is anything but pure. Large amounts of nicotine and other additives make it extremely harmful. Some cigarettes claim to be additive free, but plain tobacco isn't terribly pleasant to smoke. Smoked for flavor and not for any kind of effect, it proves a relaxing and peaceful pursuit. Since shisha is tobacco, smoking it involves some of the same ill effects as other types of smoking. It is very light and flavorful with a wonderful fruity aroma. The most popular flavor is apple, others include strawberry, pineapple, apricot, grape, rose, mint, and even cappuccino! (There is even an exclusive cola flavor).

Shisha smoking
HOOKAH or shisha smoking is centuries old. It used to be limited to elderly villagers but in recent years it has witnessed a marked increase in urban areas. The shisha is different from the traditional hookah in the sense that besides plain tobacco, certain flavours and aromatic substances are added to the mix. Many restaurants in Karachi are now offering shisha to their customers and some newly-opened eateries are doing good business on this count. For youngsters, shisha use is exciting and trendy.
In a recent survey conducted in Karachi schools, it was found that over 90 per cent of children have experimented with this form of tobacco. This number included both boys and girls as young as five and six. The most tragic aspect revealed by the survey was that most of these youngsters were unaware that shisha smoke contains tobacco along with other flavours.
The research shows that shisha smoking can have serious health consequences. The smoke from the shisha contains hundreds of potentially dangerous substances, including carbon monoxide, charcoal, nicotine, arsenic, cobalt, chromium and lead. Nicotine and tar levels in the smoke from a single use of a shisha are roughly equivalent to those produced by 20 cigarettes.
Research has also shown that after 45 minutes of shisha smoking, expired air carbon monoxide and plasma nicotine levels, as well as the heart rate, are significantly elevated. Nicotine dependence may also result from repeated inhalation of tobacco smoke.
Children are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of shisha use. If they are present in any restaurant or home where a shisha is being used, they face an increased risk of lung infections.
There is an urgent need to educate the public about the dangers of shisha use. Our respected public figures, family physicians and concerned citizens as well as non-governmental organizations should come forward and warn the people about this spreading trend. Special programmes should be organized in schools warning children against the dangers of shisha use. The government must also introduce laws barring restaurants from serving shisha to under-age customers.

Research article: Comparison of patterns of use, beliefs, and attitudes related to waterpipe between beginning and established smokers.
Background

Waterpipe, is a generic name for tobacco use methods that names and shapes in different cultures and countries (e.g. shisha, narghile, hookah, hubble bubble) [1]. Although
waterpipe smoking is centuries old, its use was declining until recent years when it witnessed a boom in popularity among Arab communities around the world [1,2]. Recent estimates show that this smoking habit has reached a quarter of some groups in the EMR, affecting youths and
women among others [3-6].

Studies on the health effects of this smoking method are scanty, and often suffer from poor control of other confounding factors (e.g. cigarette smoking). We are just
beginning to learn in a more methodological way the full spectrum of harmful effects of this smoking method and about shared and distinguishing features from cigarette smoking.
For example, in regards to CO, one of the main cardiovascular risks of cigarette smoking, waterpipes are at least as efficient as cigarettes in delivering this toxic gas to smokers' lung [1]. On the other hand, tobacco smoke generated by this method seems to contain larger amounts of heavy metals such as arsenic, cobalt, chromium, and lead [7]. In addition, this smoking method is efficient in delivering nicotine to smokers, who tend to show signs of tobacco use dependence [8,9].
Because of the increasing trend of this smoking method, together with its health damaging and addictive potentials the need to develop ways to intervene with smokers and prevent initiation seems timely. Intervention efforts to deal with this emerging public health problem however, are hindered by the inadequacy of data characterizing various aspects related to patterns of waterpipe use and dependence [10].

wat is my point in doing this, in this entry? why shouldn't people be left alone to make their own decisions?

don't get me wrong, i'm not here to influence or to brainwash anyone in any way at all. i'm jus trying to offer an insight into shisha, and what it really is. i know this may very well not change the minds of some, and in fact, many people. jus look at the media and all their attempts to reduce smoking in the society - all their graphic gory ads, constant reminders and campaigns, even health warnings on the pack itself, and then examine the less-than-satisfactory returns. so wat m i, with my one-time effort and my measly blog with barely a hundred readers, trying to do?

i am afterall one person, and there is only so much i can do. but wat i know i can do is inform the pple ard me. my loved ones. i know so many who wouldn't touch a cigarette, don't condone smoking, and in fact abstain from it, but because of misinformation, negligence and ignorance, these very pple turn to shisha thinking that it is a safe and harmless activity, when it is in reality, not.

i love my frens too much to let them harm themselves unknowingly. the very least i could do is help them know.

i love you guys.

thank god it's fridaayy!

yippee! hahahhaha never thot i'd be soOoo happy for the weekend to be here!
i gues that's wat work does to u :P

yea during school i do look forward to weekends too, but not as much as when i'm working. particularly cos when u'r schooling, school work, impending deadlines, assignments due all stick with you throughout the weekend. somehow, as much as you dun wanna think abt it n dun wanna get bogged down by it, dey'r stil at de back of your (ok fine, MY) mind, lurking in a corner ready to pounce on me when monday rolls ard.

but wen it's work.. NO WORRIES OVER THE WEEKEND! cos welllll no homework, no assignments no deadlines!! (not at my pathetic level anw - intern onliii waat. haha)

BUT

i'm not a big fan of WORK eithr.
in fact, i jus confessd to kak hanna.. i wanna study all my life. haha. honestly i dun ever wanna stop studying!
ok so all of u must think i'm crazy.
but wen you're working.. there's nothing to look forward too! really. there's like no sense of time. it jus seems nneeeeevvveeerreeeeenndddiiiinngg. like it's nvr gonna end!
but with school, no matter how much u hate a lecturer or a module or the lecture hours, consolation lies in the very fact that one day it's gonna end! you can look forward to midsem break, look forward to the end of semester, look forward to the end of the year. so many markers of time, if you get me.
with work, it's like u'r kinda stuck with the same boss (unless u quit), same system (unless u quit), same working hours (unless u quit). there's no vacation break (unless u take leave, which SO doesn't count, bcos u won't take 3 months leave, and wel, they won't give it to u), no midsem break, nothing to look forward to really. unless u count your let's say, 3 weeks holiday? which is SO pathetically measly compared to the may to july school break!

yea so i rest my case, and school rules!
haha
i feel syahirah, fiza and su staring daggers at me.

ok yes tgif, and so wat m i doing in the office fifteen minutes after office hours?? (work ends at 5:30pm fridays)

the answer iiiissssss...

i'm waiting for my boyfren to finish HIS work at the uh rifle range?
ARMY-work! *throws hands up in disgust*

mr boyfren come faster can.
let's go let's go let's go!

it's the new varsity year.
the time has come for proud freshmen to officially begin their varsity education. for seniors to trudge back into school, knowing n dreading wat is to come thru the year. for the driven n the ambitious to resolve, to set aims and goals, to work n to acheive.

not yet for me though, term has yet to start. but aftr all i'm stil an NUS girl at heart. i'll only be a visitor at king's, a penumpang.

my frens ard me are all gearing up, raring to go. evrybody's stepping up deir game. stakes are higher, content heavier, time more valuable.

i want to also. i want to be able to do something abt my cap. but i can't till jan next yr. so my cap wil hv to sit where it's at for the next 5 months.

it realli worries me. the firs class is sliding further n further out of reach. i can't let that happen. n i won't.

but i'm realli scared it wil.

Here is the analysis:
1. You've got great self-confidence and you're full of charm. Most guys who get to know you will be attracted to you. You are far from sweet and proper; your intriguing personality fascinates them. Most guys find it easy to fall for a girl like you.
2. You don't really care about other people's feelings. You do things the way you want and usually think only about yourself. You are easy-going and love to have fun, but you can be irresponsible as well. You are not keen on serious discussions because they can make you remember that life isn't always about parties.
3. You are a bright, cheerful and bubbly person. You are thoughtful and considerate, and like to have fun. Everybody feels comfortable around you because of your pleasant nature. When you walk into a room, people's eyes are likely to be drawn to you because of your charm.
4. Your peers think of you as a fun person, but sometimes you can be a little irresponsible. You can be somewhat childish, and can try to ignore the fact that you will one day need to really grow up and be a mature adult! Perhaps you could start reading good books; they might help you look at the world in a different light. You do want to be taken seriously, right?
5. Your boyfriend believes that you are a strong and independent person. Your confidence and cheerfulness make you an attractive person to be around, but sometimes you need to pay more attention to what other people, including your boyfriend, are thinking.

err. like SAME eh nydia. HAHA. (wel with 5 qns onli, wat can u expect.)

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
The seriousness of your love:

You have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.
Your views on education:

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.
The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.
Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

hmm. *shrugs*

besides dat, friday was most of my peers' last day. boo. (as i am typing this at work, im feeling pretty lonely.) so for lunch, we orderd pizza! (which is stil sitting on de cabinet behind me - today's monday. gross.) we orderd canadian and surprisingly, not evryone knows dat canadian's 2-for-1 deal is not a promotion. it's jus de way dey sell it. deir concept. hahaha *nudges su*

sat was anothr yummylicious day! dear nisa treatd foc nuestro viaje marketing comm! su aisyah n i! n bettr yet, it was hitea @ royal plaza on scotts! *whoots* i prefer hitea to dinnr/lunch cos wel, hitea has finger food n junk like shrimp balls, dim sums, crab claws, lil seafood deli balls, spicy chicken wings, gadogado rotijon carrot cake cheecheongfun ice kachang icecream bread&butter pudding w vanilla sauce, semolina pudding - de works! hehe mmm-MMM!
and and! yet anothr upside to dat day was dat i was wearing my fabulously gorgeous fond hugs skirt! hehe (was drowning in despair n frustration aftr de worst CA of my life (last monday) - bloody special sem wen de gorgeous lil skirt appeared in front of me like a much needed breath of air, a life line! so i bought it. n in dat vry moment i lost all ability to think, all logic seemd to hv left me n i disregarded de price. oops? naah. cos im hepi to hv it, worth evry penny! in fact, in dat same shopping trip i bought anothr oamc skirt, a pair of pants frm u2 - 50% off! n a giordano top. it was a REALI bad CA.)
n den. at nyt.we de Tudung TriumvIRate - not triumvate huzer. (i lookd it up. cos i din know wat it meant. heh.) droppd in on guys nyt to be lil lifesaving fooddelivering praying angels. hah. was fun. huzer was initially worried dat we girls wun hv anythg to do wun hv anythg to entertain ourselvs. but he learnt we'r pretty much selfsufficient. all we need is ourselves.

ok so den sunday pretty much rocked too (apart from tuition). i drove to my granny's! ok now de last time i touched de car was um like looooong ago like april? or sumwer der. so now picture a silver honda city ROARING (literally. cos i cudn get my biting point n i steppd too hard on de accelerator wout lifting de clutch.) de life out of de estate trying to reverse out of the lot. great. oh n i took like 7 tries to get out of de bloody lot. n a guy was sitting undr de block, an amused smile on his face. superb.

(and convinced my dad to sponsor my boots, since de bill goes to him anw. heh.) *whoots* gotta enjoy de card while it lasts cos it wun last long. "valid thru 12/05". boo. but waddeheck its gold! ;) *whoots*
