i felt pretty alright after today's paper. i thought i managed to answer all the questions pretty adequately. i could recall from my notes for most, and for those which completely stumped me, i cooked something up on the spot - like why i think transgenic animal technology is better used to create animal models of disease as compared to making ornamental pets like the Glofish because the public would much rather support the former and not the frivolous application of the latter. sajer jer eh.

these my friends, are Glofish.
they weren't naturally made in these colours, clearly.

don't they look like they belong in a colour-pencil box? or in a tube of mentos..

anyway, i'm quite proud to say that these Glofish were designed and first generated right here on our very own Kent Ridge. More importantly, my prof was the mastermind and responsible for the very colourful fish! (i bet his poor lab officers and phd students did all the work.)

see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GloFish
Dr Zh/iyu/an Go/ng, that's my prof! well not MINE, but the prof who teaches this module. (pardon the slashes. lest my blog comes up as a hit for his name.)

Needless to say, this technology has been very successful and widely commercialized.. in the states no less! do you think he made a lot of money? i think not.. but you never know. maybe some company bought the technology..

ah-haa!! i knew it!
The scientists from NUS and businessmen (Alan Blake & Richard Crockett) from Yorktown Technologies, a company in Austin, Texas met and a deal was signed whereby Yorktown obtained the worldwide rights to market the GloFish.

i went back to check the wiki page. SEE! some rich texas businessman with that annoying southern accent just grew richer! how much can you get for the technology? and how much do you think they made from selling the fish! oklah, granted you have to set up the infrastructure for mass production and stuff.. but really! you kinda just have to let the fish.. MATE! get the first successfully transformed generation, and breed! sure it's not THAT easy to get the first success case. but still! sigh. scientists should learn a thing or two about business.. and making money! if he had known how to (or wanted to), prof go/ng could've made TONS of dollars with this concept!

but sometimes scientists just aren't that type. they'd much rather investigate, and discover and learn and all that shits. -__-

so anyway! i was feeling pretty alright about the paper right.. and then later at night i checked my notes again. and i found that i forgot to mention quite a few things.. tsk. i'm hoping you don't need to mention everythiiing, and that what i put down was quite enough. my poor writing hand sure felt like it was enough! lactic acid accumulation!! (too much bio?)

i met hatta for dinner afterwards, and we settled on fish&co at suntec.

and i was severely disappointed. :(

(heyy by the way did you know that if you flash your tertiary student pass, you get free drinks with a main course? like YAYY! but only til Apr 30th, boo.)

i ordered new york fish&chips, and at first glance i was already disappointed. it was nowhere near as big as the ones they serve at glasshouse! and it's soo cheesy somemore! like when you cut up the fish, the cheese pulls apart all stringy and.. cheesy!! so with this one, i started tearing my fish apart, looking for the cheese. don't have! hatta tasted also.. don't have!

so we called one of the staff. and she called the manager. and you know what the manager came to us for? TO TELL ME THAT MAYBE THE CHEESE IS ALL MELTED and so you can't taste it that well. like wtf!! of COURSE i know cheese MELTS, that's why it's so great! i was a little offended, to say the least. so i responded "oh no, i've HAD these fish&chips before, and i KNOW what they taste like.. and they don't taste like this!" while at the same time hatta was saying "you want to taste?" chett! hatta's first words after she left were "it's not our first time here okayy!"

in the end, they did send a replacement. but still, the cheeses were disappointing. nothing like the one at glasshouse! from now on, fish&co only at the glasshouse!

wait, there's more. besides the lack of cheese, my fish (AND FRIES) were swimming in oil!! i think they not happy with me already, and didn't bother to drain my fish piece properly. (i just hope that was the worst they did.) i swear! there was a layer of oil (i could see the globules!) under my fish.. and the fries around the fish were soggy.. from the oil! i picked out a few at first and put them aside, then i realised TOO MANY of them like that! and the underside of my fish wasn't crispy anymore! all soggy and SOAKED IN OIL. when i tilted my pan, i saw the rest of the oil seeping out from under the fish. sigh.

so i stopped eating and traded it for hatta's leftover prawn fettucine with chili cream. :(

a pity i didn't have the camera on me tonight. but i think i look horrid anyways, that's what studying does to me. it's a wonder why i still wanna study for the next 5 years. haa!

next up was dessert. had the cookie monster mudpie at nydc. at which point i realised.. hey! i can take photos with the n73! chett!

there you go.

mm, not that great in my humble opinion. the ice-cream flavours were too similar (mocha almond fudge and double choc chip), so there was no great explosion of flavours in my mouth. boo! the oreo base and chocolate sauce were the saving grace(s?). that's about it yeah.

*yawns* no paper til wednesday.. here i come bed! toodles y'all!

//edit// omg i just realised i called my prof's creation.. FRIVOLOUS! and he'll be marking that question. well done yani, well done.

i'm a happy lady. because lady luck loves me!

late last night, i was cramming and cramming (trying very hard) to swallow all that 12 slideshows right.. amidst online window shopping for flowers. hatta's bouquet got me inspired and so i went to see the types of bouquets available, how to send etc. nina (hatta's sister) and i were totally comparing choices and all like 'i like this one!' 'i don't like roses' and making wishlists. you can do that on the website!

so anyway sometime last night i realised how screwed i was, clearly NOT able to finish and remember all the material, including lecture notes! so i took a risk, cut a third of the lecture topics out of my plan and proceeded to cringe realising how much was still left! i even went to google Textbook of Bacteriology in my desperation - hoping they'd have summarised versions that i can look at. but nope, they were every bit as lengthy as my wretched lecture notes.

by half past 1, my parents were pestering me to go to bed. i took their advice. having only done 40% of the syllabus, i threw in the towel. yes i did. hatta says i got balls! for doing that. yayy to me. anyway i was damn pissed, really angry and upset at myself for having let this happen. i set my msn personal msg to 'i fucking give up.' and went to bed.

=D

and i'm really glad i did because i needed all that sleep.

i admit, there was a desperate attempt at cramming early this morning. at like 6am before i left, and an hour before the exam.

i thank my lucky stars because the questions were just right! (: like honestly, you don't need to be a bio student to answer. get this:
Discuss how modern technology can be a double-edged sword in the emergence of infectious disease.
like hellooo GP!! so i talked and talked, from like globalisation (think overpopulation, high housing density and therefore high transmission) to travel (think SARS) to IT (think database and ease of information sharing) to GMOs (think antibiotic-resistance gene) to agriculture technology (think antibiotics in animal feed) and YES! i think i might have just pulled through. (: of course i also talked about the boring bio, molecular and healthcare bits.

the other two questions were pretty alright. i was quite prepared for one of them (hey 40% put to good use!) and the other was pretty straightforward. plus prior lab experience helped drum some basics into me! and helped for this one:
Write about the applications, advantages and disadvantages of molecular diagnostic techniques in clinical microbiology.

so alhamdulillah, i kept a cool head and wrote and wrote. i think we might have just scored ourselves at the very least a B+. (shan't jinx it by calling it an A. i'm superstitious like that.)

in fact, i feel better about this paper than i did about yesterday's.

so i got home really pleased, sat down for some lunch and logged onto the world wide web.. and surprise! desperate housewives 19 is out! YESS!! (: (:

carlos is getting to be quite endearing. (believe it or not, even with all that sleeping around.) and i love edie's dress! i got a screenshot of it, look:okay it's not very clear. firstly, it's off-white! i love! also gotta love the round metal buckle for the belt (which is the same material as the dress), and best part is it's got flare sleeves! (the lower sleeves) like whoots!

i also like what gabrielle marquez did. kudos to her. he just better be worth it though.

and and the scavo's little girl has a line!! she goes "more pleeeease!" with such a cuute cheeky smile. so geramm!

darnit, fun's over honey. back to work. round three awaits on thursday. wish me luck for the nexxxxte paperr!

oh one more thing:
like these?
"get it yourself!"

my favourite hand bouquets! picked out from fareastflora.com. i could just look at flowers forever. honestly, i look at them and they look so pretty they make me smile. i'm a girl like that. but do you know how much some of these cost? like a BOMB!! see the biggest photo inlet there? that's called Rosy Extravagance. oh it's extravagant alright - it's a whooping S$199.90!

but but.. aren't they just so prettyyy..

//edit// i'm not sending hatta hints over my blog okayy - that's just lame. i told him myself what i like (ie. want next). :D

Monday, April 23 | 5:53 pm

it's annoying that two of the topics i studied soo well appeared in the same section! it was a 'Choose 1 question from each section'. oh well. i wish i had remembered more drugs that prevent transmission at skeletal neuromuscular junction.. not to mention the molecular mechanism by which nsaids (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) inhibit cyclooxygenase! i know they DO that alright, but the molecular mechanism!! is not anywhere in the notes! in any case, i'm not too concerned, i'm hoping the A and A+ from the CAs will pull me through. but let's not jinx it. *crosses fingers*

medical microbiology awaits me tomorrow. it's a level 4!! gahh. i hope all the year 4s got knocked out writing their theses and printing their posters that they died and forgot to study. gee, thankz.

another case of 'Choose 1 question from each section,' but this time the sections are stipulated. i've studied everything (i hope) for the first section, and about 60% for the second section. but nothing from the third! the third section is a total nightmare - it's student presentations! yes, the topics that students presented.. are freaking examinable! whee. no offence or anything, but i was asleep during most presentations. we should stop complaining about boring/lousy lecturers, because frankly, we're no better. hah!

who thinks i can read, learn, understand and memorise 12 slideshows (x 30slides) in one night? i do! ... NOT! borat says.

so rules for tonight.
1) stay away from .blogspot.coms.
2) stay away from rcti and Intan, and Suria and Hikmah.
3) stay away from tv-video.net and alluc.org..

so many restrictions!!

so this post comes a little late, but all the same..
happy birthday to me!

i expected it to be a pretty mellow stay-at-home day, what with three papers in the next four days. sadly, the world doesn't stop for me.

i canceled all tuition classes, sempena hari jadiku. haha. if only i canceled to go out and rock it on, but noo. it was to make way for Pharmacology. i'd only started on it like sat at 2am, and paper's tomorrow! i've been going crazy for Medical Microbiology (paper's tuesday) all week, tsk. so i digress.

so when the doorbell rang this afternoon, i was pretty surprised because my students weren't supposed to show. and guess whaaaaat greeted me. (:

you never fail to surprise.

ten points for the love! ten?? no, manymanymanyyyyy points! ;)

and then, a little later, my mummy came home with a bunch of pastries aaaaand ice-cream cake! YAYY!! (: (:

frozen strawberries, yum.

so it did remain a stay-at-home day, but with a couple of surprises! yayy, i love. (:

i've had ice-cream for tea-time, and ice cream for after-dinner dessert.. *buurp* :D

thank you for all the well-wishes and the messages heppibody!! i don't think it makes sense for me to message everybody THANK YOU one by one. so one biiiiiiiiiiiiig
THANK YOU to everybody. (:

and the biggest to my mummy&family dearest,
and of course to you, love!

i turn 22 today.
thank you for helping me remember. (:

Monday, April 16 | 8:35 am

overdue post:

yayy! this weekend i met with all my dearest groups of darlings. (: (:

zat called for a life-science kiddos dinner saturday night. it was perhaps timely, since this is really about the last time we meet up as STUDENTS. while all of us are still responsibility-free and happy. some of us are graduating this semester and looking for jobs, some are extending a semester, some are awaiting the hons year and some are going about charting their future on the unchartered path. gosh, we're all going so many different ways! i know everybody's going about in a good way, but i can't help feeling just a little bit sad. we're going to be all over the place!

everybody knows how difficult it is to get everybody down, so here we're missing aisyah, su and syahirah. boo. :p

what's wrong with her marinara? hmm.

@breeks: seafood marinara, baked pasta seafood mornay, chicken bulgogi bibim bap and chicken melted patties (i think).

my baked pasta seafood mornay was oohh, YUMMY. it was so creamyy, so cheesyy.. so sedapp! easily one of the best baked pasta/rice i've had. (fooh, breeks should pay me for this.) it was just right, the right amount of creamy and cheesy. mm, shiokshiok. plus the seafood portion was just about right too. :D

know what else is shiokshiok? THIS!:
potato island, they call it!

it's like deep-fried baked potatoes stuffed with pan-fried crab meat (the real stuff, not the flavoured fish meat kind) with melted cheese.. ooohh! i saw it on the menu for starters, and i kept flipping back to look at it. i couldn't stop thinking about it even as i tried to decide on something for main course. aahh!! in the end, zat agreed to share with me. so sweet right my zat. ;) hehe.

one more thing. i like how breeks keeps updating their food selection. this is the second time in i think a year or so that they've updated their menu! whoots to them! :) :) keeps things interesting and an evening there worth it. got new food to try! (sorry lah, halal choices are limited right.)

my camera makes people look photogenic, muslim says.

oh oh! at breeks, marlini had a voucher that gave us 20% off, and then at starbucks we had an employee that gave us 20% off too! yayy! haha. by employee, i meant one of us. not literally the guy behind the counter. just to get it clear. haha. he recommended the banana range. there's banana java chip and banana coconut cream. they're alright. interesting taste. (:

i had good fun, just chatting with them. :) good time to catch up. and muslim, i'm really glad you showed up! and i got to know dayana's new boyfriend too. a new friend in school for me! (and more, you'll see later.)

much love! i really wish su, syah and aisyah could've been there! boo (again).

okay so here's the interesting bit. guess who i met on the train on the way home.. again. the third time!! siigh. the world works in funny ways. the first encounter was on the train. and then it was with khairiah, at starbucks the cathay.

so there i was standing around in the train, happily chatting away to the easties (marlini, dayana and mirza) when who should i see getting on the train but.. . so we were like "eh!", and of course when i did that my friends turned to see who it was, and GUESS WHAT. mirza goes "eh hii.." and salams him! small world?

he was with a colleague, so after i said hi, we didn't talk. but he got off at tampines as well, so we all walked together. this time i was with marlini, and surprise surprise, it was no problem at all for them to start talking. but i was pleasantly surprised.. by marlini! this marlini used to be such a MOUSE when i first met her, and even when she first got to know the rest of the girls, she used to be SO QUIET around them. sekarang.. dah lemak! dah pandai bully aku lagi ni!! marlini's not the shy quiet one anymore, y'all. BEWARE!!

so anyway, we were walking to the interchange when i asked him which buses he was taking. he replies with the exact three buses that i take. marlini takes one look at me and bursts out laughing. kurang ajar kau! and no prizes for guessing.. we got off at the same stop. of course. -__-

it's pretty funny i think. hatta says two more times and i should go out with that guy. !!! clearly not the jealous boyfriend sort, that hatta.

on friday night, nydia called for dinner, just to meet up and i guess hang out before huzer leaves for summer exchange at swiss.

i only had UROPS presentation that day (which was so-so, but now i wouldn't count on that A, bahh.) so by 3pm, i was out of kent ridge with nydia. we were to go "study" and mars was to meet us at "4.30p.m". there you go.

nydia and i made ourselves at home at cathay's starbucks. kicked off our shoes, set up the laptop, hooked onto wireless@sg aaand.. well, let me just say this - friendster + a couple of kaypoh girls = a whole lot of bitching. i think nydia and i must have made quite a racket. we were parked in a secluded corner far inside starbucks, but i'm pretty sure the whole store heard us. and we weren't actually paying customers. haha! sampai kena tegur. then we bought something. hehh. shameless!

sidenote: i looove wireless@sg. SO CONVENIENT!! sg is SOO forward cann! the next ignorant white kid who comes to me thinking sg is some far-flung backward city in china will get this slammed in his/her face! whaat?? some of the americans i've met really think like that! and i bet i'll meet more this july. (oohh, LA i can't wait!!)

thank you for putting up with us starbucks. ;)

studying.. NOT!!
we look all sweet and innocent but.. siigh. don't say i didn't warn you.
wait, we really are nice people!

we hit bencoolen mosque (see, we are good people) and then it was time for dinner! i wish all mosques were underground (as in physically) and air-conditioned. :D

i love collages. don't you? (: they say so much in so little space!

have fun in swiss, abu and huzer! they're going together, and living together too. poor.. uh, them.

GIRLFRIENDLOVE!!

dessert! wow, some people really enjoyed their ice cream.

privileged easties. ;) got car-ride home!

i remember this conversation we had sometime back over dinner one evening. elly was grumbling about boyfriends always showing up when you wanna go out with your girlfriends. and i said "oh! hatta almost wanted to come tonight.. but i didn't let him." and elly goes "no no hatta is okay!" then i'm like but you were complaining about boyfriends being there! then she says "no like (blabla, can't remember what she said).." and somebody else goes "aaww, hatta is like one of us now!" so i said something like it used to be so difficult to get him to go out with you guys, and it was really when i wasn't around that they got closer. and mars goes "see lah yani, you should have gone on exchange earlier." -__- wth!! haha. come july guys, come july..

speaking of which. we had a pre-departure briefing by the international relations office on monday. and i was pretty alarmed to find out ALL the funny admin things i did NOT do when i had been in london! like registering myself with the high commission over there. if there had been an accident or attack of some sort, i could have gone missing and nobody would know! or sthg.

anyway, at the briefing, the lady speaking to us had lived in many different places herself. listening to her stories, i was pretty much awed and inspired to.. go global! ;) besides that, some of the stories were pretty scary. like racial attacks, despite having been a victim of one myself over at london. like shootings. she used to live in boston, and every night there would be a shooting at this particular area called Jamaica Place (or sthg like that). the kind of place that if you happen to walk into, you can hear cracks of gunshots in the distance. so we were talking about indications of a no-go area, and they were giving out universal adapters as gifts if you participate actively in the discussion. i so wanted those adapters! how useful is that! got NUS logo some more okayy! so i volunteered "lots of vandalism" as a surefire sign. like you know, street lights knocked out, gates off their hinges, broken windows.. that kind of vandalism. but i think she thought i meant like.. graffiti. NO!! drawing on the walls doesn't make you a dangerous kid.. and i'm smarter than to think like that! haha.

back to the guns and shooting. i'm scared knowing that people in america freely own guns. and it just so happens that i mentioned it in my last entry. you never know when a person might snap.. and if he/she owns a gun.. omg it's damn scary. there's too many psychos out there!

my fears are clearly not unfounded okayy. the virginia tech shooting just happened. and as i was reading about it, i was thinking and hoping like hell that the government will do something about their arms control! but nooo.. see this:
The massacre has revived the debate over U.S. gun control laws, which are the most lenient in the Western world. But it appeared unlikely the shooting would lead to stricter laws or have much impact on the 2008 presidential race because most leading candidates already favor gun controls and are unlikely to gain by pushing the issue.

like siigh. someone do something!!

it's a bit premature, but pray for my safety over there!

wow, i just scrolled back up to see what i've been typing. and i realised.. i can go on talking forever. iish.

Sunday, April 15 | 3:14 am

it's early sunday morning. typically i would be updating about my recent happy times, but this takes priority. in fact, i really am in the middle of putting my photos together, when hatta msn-ed me.

please take a second to read this: http://www.houseofjoel.blogspot.com/

the blogger is a friend of hatta's. more importantly, his relative is fighting for his life.. because of a stupid, trivial argument. it hits so close to home, i cannot believe it.

i read the article in the papers a couple of days back, not knowing it was somebody somewhere in my life. even so, when i was reading, i felt like crying. let me elaborate.

there had been a "minor collision" between a car and a taxi. as i read it, in my mind i was thinking of one of hatta's many brushes with other motorists. like you feel and hear the bump or nudge when the metal comes into contact, but really to the untrained unknowing eye, there is no significant damage done to the car (usually bumper). so it's quite hard to resolve these things. obviously the guy who hit (or who isn't driving his personal vehicle) won't admit and won't see the need to get anything fixed. just like in this case.

so the guy and the taxi driver were arguing, and clearly the taxi driver couldn't be bothered. and did not admit/succumb, ie. matter not resolved. so the guy, still not able to get the taxi driver's particulars, remained standing on the road. and guess what. the fucktard of a taxi driver went back into his cab, put it into gear and fucking RAN THE GUY OVER. the guy apparently landed on the bonnet of the taxi, and then fell a few metres away when the taxi stopped, LANDING ON HIS HEAD.

like wtf! putting myself in his shoes, i clearly wouldn't think the taxi driver would run me over, and so i thought if i remained standing there, he cannot go anywhere and i'll get the particulars i need. i mean he'd have to be seriously OFF HIS ROCKER to do that.

the worse part for me was realizing that the whole account came from the girlfriend. sitting and watching in the car. i could only IMAGINE what that must have been like for her. many a times I have been the girlfriend sitting in the car. I have had to watch him resolve disputes in minor accidents. I have worried before, hoping everything can be settled peacefully. I have envisioned it in my mind so many times; him arguing with uncles (and an auntie) twice his age, trying to get them to pay for the damage. once, he had a mini-collision in the middle of the PIE. if the other guy had been psycho, he could have easily been in this poor guy's shoes.

it's just so darn scary. while reading the article, i was thinking that could easily be us. now that i actually know the family of, it makes the victims more real. there are real people grieving, real people hoping and praying. it just makes me cry thinking about it. it scares me.

plus the road is near wheelock. and hatta has been parking in that area so often these days. it's just too close to home.

so enough about me. the family needs eye-witnesses. so please just spread the word. there's a description of the taxi passenger, plus the time and location of the accident. if you know anything, please tell someone - the police, joel (the blogger), hatta, even me!

i'm so upset. so what if the taxi driver is put away for life? (yeah right) the poor guy is struggling like hell. his injuries are so severe, he's had two operations. one to have part of his right brain REMOVED and the other to remove blood clots from his left brain. that's the entire brain invaded. even the doctors don't want to comment. his chances of survival look pretty slim. and should he survive (God willing), what will become of him? it's pretty clear that his brain suffered LOADS of damage. are they reparable? far from it.

wth lah, i can't take it. IT'S NOT BLOODY WORTH IT. its so scary. you never know when the other guy is going to snap. and ALL YOU WHO DRIVE, please please please realize that it's not bloody worth it. LET IT GO. step out of the way, out of the line of fire. take down his license plate number. (girlfriends sitting in the car and watching, that's your number 1 priority. don't start changing songs or retouching your make-up.) girlfriends, remain sitting in the car. one of you out there is enough. you don't want the psycho driver to run both of you over. at least one of you needs to be talking to the police. thank god this is singapore we're at. else he might have a gun too.

PLEASE. iskandar, rozzie, huzer, adil, sha.. as long as you're my friend and you're at the steering wheel, please take this as an extra stern reminder, PLEASE.

Thursday, April 12 | 8:54 pm

i have my first birthday present - ten days early. THANK YOU NADIAH.

some people are damn free. they forget they got EXAMS. AFTER they blame ME for their not doing more work at tcc. TSK!

it's quite funny lah, gotta hand it to her. BUT AH. MARS started it! HOW COME WE NEVER GET HER FOR IT!!

|
| 3:45 pm

hatta's onto imeem.com. i'm not one to search for good music to listen to, but he is. so what i've been doing is latching onto his playlist. but there are a couple of songs on his that i don't like, so i created my own, minus the ones i dislike.

in any case, the songs are essentially his pick.

and i put the playlist right at the top, so you can pause/play the moment the page loads.

Wednesday, April 11 | 10:10 pm

i am on a gadget hunt! thanks to what i've been up to these days.

yesterday was the study (or rather "study") date with mars and nadiaH. (: at nadz's current favourite hangout. which i must must say is damn-near perfect. it would be totally perfect if they ALLOW photography! (not that that stopped us though.) apparently, the artwork on the walls are for sale, and so like all art museums/galleries, no photography allowed. so do you wonder how we took these photos?
nadiah kau spoil gambar ah..

the place is so gorgoeus, and at one corner they have magazines! like they WANT you to bum there for hours! bean bags and knee-high tables, like whoots! we were literally sprawled all over the floor, legs stretched easy, beanbag pouffed to create the perfect backrest.. mmm. (:

oh yes, i had the warm bread butter pudding.. like oooh fuzzy. [: came with cappuccino ice cream, soft creamy sweet oh so sweet and warm bread-pudding and strawberries! well, strawberrY sliced into many pieces.

nice uh, the place.
this was our second spot. (we shifted thrice.) only because first, i needed a power point for the laptop, and then the second spot was under an air-con vent - too cold!

most shots were taken without flash, and under pretense of me exploring the camera functions and stuff, we snapped! sneaks! once, nadiah took with flash, and we kena tegur. but very nicely o'course. :)
the day.
consisted mostly of water refills and toilet trips. i think we used up a good portion of the toilet paper.
and studying (attempts) of course! :]

i love my new tunic! *nudges zat*
i finally got to wear it cos i finally got my skinny pants! (well, jeans actually. although i had been looking for pants. couldn't find any, and settled on topshop skinny jeans. yippee!)

the girls insisted on dinner, and so we trooped down over to eu tong seng for a quick bite. i was fine going home without dinner, and mars found that so strange. like why cannot?

finally! we see Miss NadiaH. ;)

yayy! i had fun! more ok more!! :D

on monday, the boy wanted to check out queensway's offer for psp. so we thought, a quick trip after class, a quick bite and then we'll be back in school to get some work done.

gadget hunt series 1.
we shall be going on gadget hunt series 2 after the exams. ;)

anyway, the smart boy decided let's go see what far east has to offer. we reached wheelock a bit after 5pm, and i'm like hey lah knocks off about now! so blablabla, it turned out to be another one of those double dates! but more importantly, it was kelisa homecoming!! i still needed/wanted to do a bit of shopping (get those skinny jeans), so while the two kids rushed off first to meet their car-guy, hatta and i only caught up with them at the showroom later.

who's that black toyol in the backseat?

hatta: YES for once i'm not in the front seat!
but bluff only, we were backseat-ers for like the 30s iskandar took to drive out of the showroom lot.

whip out that P-plate, yo!

inaugural drive.
whoots! congrats is, your first automobil!
dila, faster get that license! [;

integra's new friend.

we then stopped by simpang for some quick dessert. so much for hatta's "i wanna be home by 9 tonight." HAHA. (and none of it was my idea, so he cannot scold me, HAHA.)

so gadget hunt? besides fetching a brand new automobil and scouting the best deal for the boy's toy, i am onto a couple of new camera models! (: (: i am not THAT techsavvy with complete knowledge of the dunno-what jargon, dSLR, ISOxxxx, aperture-shutter, but i try to understand what i want in a camera. (: and thanks to nadz and mars for letting me maul their relatively new digi cams yesterday, i now know what i want! muchos gracias to Missy Nadz too because we exchanged much of (the little that) we know about digis throughout the day. (:

i'm starting to feel more enlightened, and i've surfed a bit for the best deals. but that shall have to sit tight until after the finals. (what a good girl, yani.)

yesterday, we were psp-hunting.

let him have his fun.

we got ourselves many quotations for prices.. but still hadn't bought it! soon though, i feel it.

we were over at tm carpark waiting for a camry to leave his lot. we were waiting ahead of the lot and so watching him leave in the rearview mirror, when suddenly some bugger turned the corner behind us and put on his hazard lights! wtf! he was stealing OUR lot!! our hazard lights were ALREADY on and it was pretty darn clear WE were waiting for it! but he wahlau muker slumber just bloody reversed into the lot the moment the camry turned out. wtf! "what the fuck is he doing that's MY lot!" hatta hit his horn hard and flew out of the car. the guy was already halfway in the lot as hatta stood there arguing with him. i was watching through the side mirrors, so tempted to go out and fight with him but i stayed with my better judgement. i played the role of the sweet demure wife who waits in the car while the men fight it out. oh wait, did i mention that hatta actually wanted to leave and let the bugger get the lot?? i was like wth NO WAY! that's OUR lot and HE's trying to STEAL it!! hatta's not the very confrontational sort. unless his hormones are up and about. haha. or unless he's fighting with me.

meanwhile, the camry that was leaving must have noticed, not to mention heard the integra's angry honk. and he actually stopped, and REVERSED! he was going to fight for us! i was sitting in the car watching him reverse towards us, and his door opened slightly.. at the same time, hatta's open door was blocking the rest of the traffic, and so we kena honked. i leaned over to shut the door, but by which time hatta had returned because he thought we were obstructing traffic.

hatta decided wth lah let him have it, he wasn't budging, that stinking bugger. he was halfway in the lot; to him, the lot was as good as his. we couldn't push him out of the lot, could we? so by then, the camry guy had moved ahead of us, and as he turned the corner, his window was wound down and he pointed us towards another nearby lot where the owner was getting into the car. he also added some angry hand motions gesturing towards the earlier bugger. we totally appreciate his concern! hehe. drivers alike must know how it feels to have their lot stolen.

so anyway i was all fired up after that, "let's go scratch his car!" but hatta didn't let me. :( hatta's always afraid to offend others in the parking lot, for fear that his car will get scratched. so this guy offends us, he deserves a scratch! all lot-stealers do! hmph.

yesterday was a happy simple day. it started with..

McD's drive-thru for brunch!

mmm chocolate milkshake!

then i had to get set for the UROPS presentation. it was a one-to-one sit-down "presentation" at the examiner's office. both my examiners, as my prof put it, are "kind to students". so the "presentation" turned out to be more of an informal chat about my project.. about what went wrong and how i must have felt! haha. so all's good then. i hope he gives me an A, because he seems like a nice reasonable man. haha!

there's still one more examiner to get past though. that isn't until next friday, and only then will the UROPS be REALLY over. phew. my UROPS is like worth 200% of any other module - it's double the weightage! oh who cares.

so later that day, i met up with the boys and we spontaneously decided to go look for hatta's psp that night. yes i'm getting that boy the psp.. it's his wayy belated 21st birthday present (if you don't count the russell peters show, grr). although i'm not so sure now's a good time to be buying him a toy.. got exams!

very boy things..
khairul gave me these weird looks everytime i snapped a photo. like why cannot??

luckily we managed to get a decent dinner at seah im.
this was when the boys were talking politics. (!!)

i had great fun with these (berangan) Engineers. yay, hatta's got nice friends. (: khairul's cool because he knows a lot, but he's not a know-it-all! and i saw firsthand how my boy gets umm, touched.

v.happy kids. (:

the psp is still not bought yet though. hitting funan sat baby?

today.. is not such a happy simple day. i have a deadline at midnight. ): a report typically 10-pg long, of which i have done.. 1pg!

met my loves last night! (:

ended school wayy earlier than expected, met nydia in town (later than she expected to be let off) and elly came down in a jiffy having been ready 2h before my call. don't ask; she's odd like that. (;

hung around town a bit, had yam milk tea yumyum and spoilt my appetite for dinner, sya came down, called mars who had lost track of time and had no choice but to cab down but was alright with it since i handed over the long overdue $75 that night, farah also cabbed down after *ahem* national silat training hokayy aaand rozzie soon arrived.

oh but wait. here's elly, nydia and i before all that action. (: waiting to pray at royal plaza.. but unwilling to unstick our backsides from that couch, yeah.

seeing one too many?

that's more than the world can take i bet.

ordering at ramenten..

i always get that blue lime soda.
and i barely touched my ramen! but i loved my sushi! [:

dinner's over and so we think hmm, what next..
dessert! says the girl who didn't finish her ramen.

so we walked and we walked, down that dear ol' road.. oh rg days.

and we saw a very strange sign. i never noticed that back then..

walk somemore..

til we got to..
swensens park hotel! mars and rozzie welcomes you!
i was craving more sticky chewy chocolate, mmmm..
oh and look who does the queuing while..

we stood around, looked pretty and take photo take photo! ;]

they had a promotional item called chocolate overload (the photo didn't turn out very well) which had like chocolate mudpie icecream, vanilla/chocolate chip icecream (we couldn't tell), huge brownie pieces (which weren't that great, not chewy and chocolatey enough for me), hot fudge and chocolate-coated cherry on top! MMMMM.
and we ordered THREE for our table. plus 2 iced mocha with sticky chewy chocolate and waffles&icecream too. get fat time!
(and so the photo is completely irrelevant i realised.)

yay us!
it's like such a feat that we got so many of us down! (: (:
sya's leaving for canada in like a month, and so we set our next date. to be on april 27th! it's so sad that we have to plan like a month in advance says rozzie. and this is before we start working. sigh.

and then we set off for home. before the east and west split..
my good deed for the day: helping mars feel tall and important. i'm too kind. :D

watch this!
woohoo elly!

i also had McD's hot fudge sundae today. i think i'm hooked on hot fudge. i've had ice cream thrice since early sunday morning. yikes!

yani and her girlfriends. [:

i realised i'm doing lots of tight-lipped smiles these days.

more importantly, i want/need a new camera! ixus50 feels old and obsolete. and it wants to retire. do you know my ixus50 has taken more than ten thousand photos? and that's just that ONE memory card. the camera automatically numbers the photo IMG_XXXX, and it doesn't go beyond 4 digits. one day while i was in Jawa, i noticed the photos were being numbered IMG_0005, IMG_0006.. !!! (also, ixus50 is my second digicam. there was ixusi, which my brother inherited.)

not to mention i'm beginning to find its flash too harsh, screen definitely too small compared to the younger fresher models, does not capture light well, cannot capture moving objects without being wayyy fuzzy aaaand.. yeah.

and i SO need a damn good camera for all that star-snapping i'm going to do while i'm in the city of angels baby! haha. naahh. how about all those superhighspeed rides at disneyland!!

PROBLEM is though.. $. i already claimed a pair of shades for the birthday gift from the loveboy.. who else can i swindle a flashy brand new camera from. haha. what i need is a TRADE-IN for cameras! some aspiring entrepreneur, START THAT BUSINESS ALREADY. or someone needs to tell me where to go for those things. sheesh.
