Sunday, February 25 | 10:25 pm

last night, i went for Temasek Hall's production, Scarred. hatta says to be nice and give them a break so this is all i shall say: they're just a bunch of people living in the same hall, not like a performing group or anything. yes.

thank god i didn't pay ($10/$14?) for it. [:

we went for a friend; it's as simple as that. (:

whoots! we got dressed in isk's room - so machiam prom like that. (the getting dressed, not the outfits.)

and so we waited for King Iskandar.
La couldn't stand her heels anymore. and yes, she's calling isk and bugging him to hurry up. i couldn't take off my 4" wedges (i swear) cause got ankle-strap! so i gave up and plopped my bum on the floor. strangely, hatta found taking photos embarrassing, but was okay with me parked at the entrance like that. *shrugs*

i then never got up, but still fooled around with the camera. (??) and this was all i saw.

but expected lah; if you're involved with the production, you're gonna have to pack up, wrap up and shake hands.

we finally set off for supper at a good 11:30pm. spize river valley, and sadly for me, i was thinking of al-azhar's mee goreng mamak when i ordered. thus i was greatly disappointed. ):

meet Kambing. he comes from new zealand. (:
oh yes, i spent friday night at vivo (yes, again) shopping (yes, again). we successfully dressed isk for ROM. anyways, this photo was taken when la and i were sitting under the Red Cubism Monster (as seen in previous entry). tsk. i was there two nights in a row; shame on me.

ok back to school tomorrow folks. :|

Friday, February 23 | 3:00 am

it took thoooo long to transfer pictures, and thooo long to sieve through the 50-odd photos we took today that by now i am thooo tired. :[
lunch at fig&olive. (again, yani?)
well somebody wanted pasta.

Fig Surprise. (again, yani?)
i think dinner has bigger better portions. or the chef at lunch today stingy.

my Grilled Dory Creamy Mushroom Pasta, mars' Chicken Pesto Carbonara.
i don't recommend the GDCMP. the dory was drowning in the Creamy Mushroom, which was too mushroomy and not creamy enough. and i didn't like the salad. i don't like rocket, i found out today.

this photo was supposed to say "one satisfied customer." but not so much anymore lah.
(alamak, can see my blotter. yalah i blot before i take photo what.)

then we took a walk around the playground. and mars made me climb this really steeeeeep hill, just to get to the other side. avoid at all costs if in heels.

so fun, so pink!
not the first time we both appeared in the same colour. :|

we found more of these cubism monsters!

lepak like crazy at pac coffee.
who can not love the chillinos. and that's not a question.

these of course aren't all of what we snapped.
but i shall spare you who are reading this. :]

new shoes new shoes!
and guess whaaaat. i asked for a size 9 (always ask for the biggest because i am Big Foot.) but when i tried, hmm strange.. longgar?? so i requested the sweet girl tending to me for a size 8, and lo and behold, it fit sooo much better! yessah! for once, i am not wearing the largest size in the house! rejoice! (: (:

thoo cute, no?
we also made a couple of purchases at la senza. and once again i don't wear the largest size - duh.
no the photo is not of la senza items. they're topshop. yumms.

oh and then on monday, i was rewarded for being such a diligent little lab rat. i went to the lab on CNY, thanks. so that night, while i was waiting for hatta to come get me, i thought wow how nice biopolis looks at night, let's take photos. then i found out i left my memory card in my lappy! (no, that's not the reward dummy.) grr. that's not the worst part. as we were driving up the ecp bridge across the river, i was facing hatta cause i think i was scolding him about something. then he goes "hey look!" like totally trying to distract me right. "no really look!!" then i saw waahh fireworks!! (there's the reward.) so fun!! don't know what they were for, but because they were red and gold, i assumed it was for CNY. then i saw green. hmm, they're trying to include malays too?

yah so i had to take photos using his camera phone. not fantastic. then i took video also, until i was leaning out the window. but the video came out sounding like a series of farts. risk my neck (literally) for nothing.

ta-dah!

oh yah! this part i totally wanted to blog. so we headed to changi village for some ayam penyet. the big purple signboard one. :] they usually blast songs right, most of the time bollywood ones. so i was happily humming to the songs, when they suddenly changed. into some Cina tunes, complete with the clangs. i was like oh so sweet, sempena hari rayer cina agaknyer. then the best part. "oii!!" "memekak lah oii!!" "aper tuu oii!!" hahahahaha so funny!! the other vendors were protesting their choice of music!! and the song changed back to bollywood tunes. :]

ok finally done.
i got headache, need sleeepp!!

some advice?

You can cry a million tears
You can wait a million years
If you think that time will change your ways
Don't wait too long

When your morning turns to night
Who'll be loving you by candlelight
If you think that time will change your ways
Don't wait too long

Maybe I got a lot to learn
Time can slip away
Sometimes you got to lose it all
Before you find your way

Take a chance, play your part
Make romance, it might break your heart.
But if you think that time will change your ways
Don't wait too long

It may rain, it may shine
Love will age like fine red wine
But if you think that time will change your ways
Don't wait too long

Maybe you and I got a lot to learn
Don't waste another day
Maybe you got to lose it all
Before you find your way

Take a chance, play your part
Make romance, it might break your heart
But if you think that time will change your ways
Don't wait too long
Don't wait
Hmm... Don't wait

off of Madeleine Peyroux's 2004 album, Careless Love.
i got introduced to her songs by a friend. cause of the laidback feel of her songs, mmm.

although i'm still trying to figure out parts of it, i like most of what i understand. (:

i tried to put it on my blog, and i couldn't decide whether i should put it on an autoplay/loop system. but i find that annoying sometimes, like if i visit someone's blog with an autoplay player, the first thing i do is press pause or stop.

so if you look really carefully under my tagboard (it blends in with the rest of my blog), you should see a tiny window. press play! it's really worth a listen. :]

after sooo long, i finally met up with the girls again! it just feels sooo long, but when we actually thought about it, it's been like mm, two weeks? which i guess is long, compared to how often we meet during the holidays, but its not really thaaat long.

in any case, it was whooots! CAs and deadlines behind me, i was ready to paint the town red! cheydebah. :]

it was just us 4 for dinner though.
it's getting tougher to get everyone together. grr, i say.

oats prawns, tom yam seafood, sweet&sour fish, fried baby squid, beef kailan (and 4 plates of white rice) and 4 girls. you do the math.
no time to take photo, it was gone in a jiffy. all the food.

i haven't had my yam milk tea with pearls for a long time now, and it called out to me from the sweetalk stand. nydia got one too, farah (who joined us for the afterdinner) got herself a McD's chocolate milkshake and elly had a starbucks' ice cocoa. tsk. then we whine about getting fat, and blame child-bearing genes and hormones.

elly sad because elly complains she's getting fat.

now elly happy because elly has her ice cocoa!
it's a vicious cycle. :\
(and i'm just the Photographer-cum-Extra on the set of The Vicious Cycle series.)

only rozzie resisted! and came only this close to The Sin.
(bluff only.)

love my girls, biiigg *muaaah*! [:

and today, we (hatta&i, isk&fad) actually had plans for the beach! picnic-lunch, tent, cycling(well, blading for fadilah. the rest of us can only cycle. :[ ), kayaking - the works! but it had to rain on me! bahh. erratic sing weather. i was wary of the beach for the whole of december mainly because it was the holidays. then, it was the monsoon rains. grr. THEN when the sun started showing up, it was deadlines and CAs!! NOW i'm all set, Mr Sun decides to play hide and seek. double grr. next week, the boys will have to start prepping for their CAs. so whenn?? may?? bahh.

make up your mind!
grey clouds on one side, and clear blue skies on the other!

so to where else, but town. =| haha. but it was chinky-free. ;) although not until much later. i was surprised to see the usual throngs of people crossing at the huge taka-paragon junction. i'm like go home, go home!! aren't you all supposed to be preparing dinner or something??

look, they're on harajuku st!
it was lunch@ramenten. :) after a long while, i went back to tom yam chicken cutlet ramen. i hopped from Tom Yam to Super Spicy to Spicy, and now back to Tom Yam. it didn't help that i had had the real thing just the night before. nanathai 1, ramenten 0.

dessert!
yumms, i had Caramelised Fig and Crusty Apple Pie (i think that's the name). so adventurous right my choices. :D Caramelised Fig is like YUUMMS. (but hatta prefers figs in a dish, ala fig&olive.) it really is thanks to fig&olive that this flavour caught my eye. mm, the Apple Pie wasn't too fantastic. wish it'd had more apple bits.

along the streets of orchard..

..under the chingay bleachers!

now what's cool about this picture? (it sure ain't isky.)
Find Fadilah! (macam Where's Wally!)

thoo empty the place!

where to go for FREE lepak session? coffee joints and eating places all cost money. not to mention we already had dessert. so back to the original lepak plan - the beach!

where the boys bullied us into setting up the tent!! grr.

hatta was even smart enough to point out that if anybody was to pass by, they would think the boys were damn jerks ah. :P

see the pathetic pleading look on my face.
(i've got no pride whatsoever.)

it only looks like isk is helping. look closer and you see him holding the camera. (!!)
and this was the part we found out that it didn't rain at east coast after all! the ground was damn hard! (we had trouble driving the pegs into the ground.)

it would also be nice to note that after that point, the guys took charge of the tent-pitching. it must have been painful for them watching us girls put up the tent. so they're not that damn jerks after all. ;]

we were treated to a little guy-on-guy.
more like a demonstration of Rogol Hatta.

the pitched tent and us!
hatta thinks he's at Mt Everest Base Camp or something, and look at the ball i just laid!

time to go!
the boys faithfully packed up the tent while..

..we took photos!
from head to toe! ;)

we did make a short stop at McD's for i was really thirsty. that turned into 2 chocolate milkshakes, a mandarin orange tea and 2 large fries with sweet chili, curry, barbeque and sweet&sour sauces, and mayonnaise. for 4 people. hmmm.

but it was good comfort food, after that total shake-up. we found out hatta has superb reflexes (one-handed steering). "You the Man!" says fadilah. iskandar awards him Man of the Match.

it was a close shave. too close. isk saw the green barrier swing into view, too closely. i saw red brake lights, heard myself cursing then it turned into a scream, followed by the green barrier swerving in front of me. i also felt the back of the car swing outwards and heard the two slam into the side. by the way, fadilah's not a screamer. haha.

and then it was good night! hatta and i set off for home, while it was family supper for them two.

mmm, another great date i say. (:

simple pleasures.

Monday, February 12 | 12:07 am

i have to study for Cancer CA on wednesday. prof teo is crazy. he wants to feed us the entire textbook. i swear. his past students can vouch for that. no kiddo. i bet next year if i take Tumour Biology i won't have to come for lectures and i'll still ace it. thank you prof teo, so kind of you. :]

the past week - studying for Pharmacology CA tomorrow.
week before - rushing reports for Medical Microbiology and Molecular Biotechnology.

(so fun. i like saying them out.)

bahh. can't think of anything else to talk about.
back to Cancer then i guess. :(

i'm a slow studier, you know.

Thursday, February 8 | 10:39 pm

tuesday was a bad bad day,
which started at 8am (slept through lecture),
a quick lunch with hatta (McD's prosperity burger and techno edge's tauhui with RICE BALLS! :] yumms.),
a 3hour long Cancer lecture (for which i was 45min late, because i thought it started a half-hour later. :| slept intermittently through this one.),
a "study session" which zat happened to stumble upon (in and out of sleep during this one as well. i had my soft fleece jacket with me, so it was my pillow for all my many naps. i think i drooled all over it though. tsk.),
and finally group meeting for Medical Microbiology project. (not that this matters to many people, but get this: Cross-talk between the nervous system and bacteria.) !!!

i was sick.
tissuetissue everywhere, a swollen nose rubbed raw, puffy watery eyes, the works.
the second time this semester!! twice in four weeks?? omg i should go get my immune system checked. bahh.

i looked so bad that from ten feet away syahirah and suhaila took one look at me and went "omg what happened to you!!" ):

anyway, when plans for dinner sparked, i pounced on it. :]

so i got myself cleaned up and presentable for a dinner date! we ended up at fig&olive vivocity, because someone refused banquet. (why??) my first experience at fig&olive (bencoolen st) was pretty bad; i thought the menu was measly. but this time, i was pleasantly surprised! the vivocity outlet seemed to have expanded the menu, with loads of good stuff! more than a few items caught my eye, and i had a hard time choosing! guess i might be going back there sometime then. ;)

left most: Figo Cyprus Steak
middle: Chicken Pesto Carbonara
top right: Fig Surprise

the portions were huge! (i couldn't finish mine.) i loved my baked Russet potatoes - the cream was heavenly. and i thought the carbonara was yumms. Fig Surprise was my idea. it was actually a third main course. haha. hatta wanted to get sides or appetizers, but i insisted on the Fig Surprise, because i was just so intrigued by the contents of the sandwich. it had chicken, roasted beef, capsicum, onions, cheese (so far pretty normal) and FIGS!! the figs came blackened; i assume they were roasted. i have a thing for sweet-savoury dishes, like pineapples in a burger, or the sweet pineapple dish that we eat with nasi briyani, and i remember so clearly italy's honey, pear and pecorino cheese combination (heaven on earth i tell you), so i had to try this fig-sandwich. :]

and it was yumms, i swear! hatta wanted to trade my half of the sandwich for his steak. if that doesn't convince you, i don't know what will.

oh, sweet days.

those words i never thought i wanted to hear.
until you said them and set my world right.
(:

Sunday, February 4 | 12:54 am

today was rather productive i must say. i was in the lab all morning, which was thankfully uneventful. everything went smoothly, although not perfectly - but hey, there's no such thing as perfect in research is there.

afterwards, i met up with marsie, caught a quick oldchangkee, munched it down waiting for the lights to change to cross over to bugis market and yep, that was our lunch. siigh. shopping trip was meant for marsie to pick out some tops. instead, i bought more. gahh. reminiscent of the shopping trip i went with sya, which was for her, and i came back with 5. quit asking me to go shop, you guys!

we got tired pretty quick - we must be getting old. so we headed back over to bjunction for a chillout session. everywhere was pretty packed. (why don't singaporeans like to stay at home?) every available toilet had a queue, including the one at hotel intercontinental! lucky for us, a hotel official offered to escort us to another toilet! yessah. hotel toilets are the bomb, man. i could live in one! (no, not really.)

neat shot.
i never thought to take a photo with the back of my head reflected in a mirror!

my current favourite hangout!
they've got a wider selection of drinks, so goodbye starbucks. [:

we actually queued (yes, another line) outside tcc bjunction, but we got impatient.
so here i am again, at tcc hotel intercontinental. (i'm not sure if that's actually the name though.)

some of the lovely fixtures that make the atmosphere!

my purchases. -__-
lucky for me, this time it's only two. =|

ixus50 is happy again! i took many photos! :]

i got the iced honey latte, and she the macadamia nut frappe.
her drink had a longer more complicated name though, but yeah that's the essence of it.

i've also tried the hazelnut frappe, mint mocha frappe and oreo frappe, along with my previous order of macadamia nut frappe. it was a round-the-table sampling of everyone's drinks during an isk&fad doubledate.

as evening rolled around, marsie had to go off with her parents to visit a newborn. yays! but i was to fly solo, til she came back for dinner. so i found a neat lil spot at nlb, and by golly, i studied! =O i've developed this opportunist attitude, where i carry my notes around with me all the time, even if i don't have lectures for that module that day or sthg like that, because i've decided that i need to find time to study. it's urops, i tell you. robbing me of my precious study time.

evidence hokays.
i didn't do much, but every little bit counts. =\

and finally, dinner! marsie is determined to try everything singaporean once again. hurrs. so it was tong seng for some chinese noodles. i ain't complaining. fried fish bee hoon with milk is my staple babeh. but. i was adventurous tonight, and went for the fishball minced chicken noodle. (: however, i didn't finish it. -__-

the best kinda menu out there.
visual, huge, and you only need one.

a little tinge of warm for the coffeeshop!

and then, it was goodnight and adios. [:
i missed my marsiepoo. i'm glad you're back, honey. *kisses*

i went on another date last night! it was high time i caught up with khairiah! (sorry, my bad. ;P) and so dinner and a movie it was. we saw Miss Potter at the cathay, and yessirree i say it's a must-see! although, perhaps not so much for the boys. don't expect a plot full of twists and turns and drama, cause it is about someone's life afterall. it's a biography of Beatrix Potter, author and illustrator of the kids' book The Tale of Peter Rabbit, and of course her many other Tales. set in 1902 in london and lake district, the show has got such a storybook effect. gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. :) i felt the show was very real; none of those unnecessary embellishing. i love it for its pure quality. [: i'm also a sucker for anything english (except football and beer), especially in the early days.
shoutout to zat: a show about authors and strong women, you HAVE to go see.

one more thing, do go and see it for the chemistry between Ms Potter and Mr Warne (Ewan McGregor). oh how coy they were back then. ;) *giggles*

and i swear to god, 92 minutes of film, and ONE kissing scene. kiss mind you, not heavy making-out. =O

so afterwards, my version of a nightcap - starbucks! i won't deny that starbucks still serves good coffee. and one major plus point is their service! i find that starbucks personnel aren't averse to chatting their customers up. i say hey, good on ya! because personally, i love having that random 2-minute conversation while ordering or waiting for my drink. (:

i also love toffee nut latte! just the right amount of sweet and nutty flavour. yumms.

i suppose i share a little bit of myself with all of my friends, but to no particular friend do i share all of myself. which is why perhaps, there are topics that i always talk to khairiah about, but not to anyone else, despite the fact that i have known her effectively for all of say - 1 month? there was that 2-week holiday in italy, hari raya at their place, dinner before i left, and dinner here last year after all them londoney people returned. plus bits of msn conversations here and there. but yep, that's about it.

then again, when you spend 24/7 (x2weeks) together, in a foreign land no less, you may start out as strangers, but you'll fast forward to the part where a bond is formed. *hugs* cherish much. (:

fast forward to starbucks nightcap.
i hate how Tired shows on my face whenever i go out after school. grr.

oh! this photo was taken with the help of no stranger.

so there i was, chilling away, sitting back leaning on my arms, when who should i see passing by the starbucks entryway but that guy from the train a week or two back. the tissue-offering one. this world works in funny ways. a stranger you thought you'd never see again, and so was amused at his last words - "hope to see you again soon." and the next thing you know, bam.

in any case, he was on the phone. so i thought it was a hi-bye thing. but what do you know. he suddenly reappeared in the entryway, and joins us! khairiah was amused. but she was also taken in (?) - am i right in saying that? she agrees that he is indeed a breath of fresh air. (too bad i can't link your blog. it'd save me the trouble of retelling. haha.) conversation flowed freely between the three of us all throughout the journey home. (which was why he actually came back in the first place.) i was afraid he might be intimidated with our topics of conversation that included travel and europe of course, (pardon us, we were reminiscing!) but he very seamlessly became part of the conversation! i guess you should never underestimate a person.

anyhows, looking back on my past 2 nights with these 2 girls, i realised there was much talk about travel! places we've been to, and where we plan on conquering next. in khairiah's words, "we are no kampung chicks!" [; amen to that! (or rather, amin. (: )
