yayyay!! HADY menang!! yeayyYEAYY!!

:) :) :)

i was so scared jon would win!!

granted he's good and all, definitely a better showsperson than hady i feel. he always says the best things, and says it reasonably well. i just found it a tad bit irritating when he kept thanking the viewers everytime he was asked to say sthg!! aiyoo enough lah!!

but i really love hady's vocals. and he looks good. and he has more range and can do more genres.

but i hate his "and you know, you know" whenever he speaks! so melayu tak speaking! haha.

aaand.

norman then was - who?

gayle sounded really good. better than at least 3 finalists who sang after her. (they sang in order of their exits - starting with the first booted one.) and she sang rihanna's unfaithful! i've always wished someone on idol would sing that. actually i wanted that person to be nurul. haha.

jay was forgettable.

emilee totally let it slip that they were lip-synching! haha. and she is so tak sexy, nak act sexy. good moves though.

jasmine looked, oh my god - fat.

but not as fat as mathilda. i could see the stomach fold, and where her belly button was, through that dress. :P (oklah i also have, but for heaven's sake, if i were to go up on stage and perform, i'd rather not show it off!)

rahimah rahim is still angry, and i still don't like angry.

i hate the hair-dos they give nurul!!

joakim received the most screams, and he was still the biggest jumping bean on stage.

twohill was hott with capital double TTs! hoTT! (mars, be prepared to faint and die.)

ok dah!

oh and, hady won!! ;)

may this ramadhan be more fruitful than before. :)
all the best everyone~*

| 3:12 pm

watched miami vice friday evening with the love. at marina sq. our favouritefavourite dating location these days. ;)

so miami vice right - WTH SIA.

in hatta's words: 2hours of gong li shit.

SERIOUSLY.

you don't see gong li on the posters right, and only minimally in the trailers. but she had SO MANY lines, it turned out to be such a nightmare!!

because when she talks, YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND HERR!!

her english is so rosak, cannot make it sia!!

she TOTALLY mutilates the sentences to be COMPLETELY UN-understandable. *cringes*

and she plays quite a pivotal role in the whole undercover thing. so it's like, wth, the plot takes a turn because of her. at least reflect that in the trailers and poster or sthg lah. the poster and trailer makes it seem like damn cool lah, 2 hotshot feds (or sthg) going undercover - whoawhoa. but then, the story turned out to be SO predictable, SO boring, SO lame. ugh.

and THEN. it took SO long to finish, by the time we left the cinema, QI JI (at the food court) CLOSE ALREADY!! wahlaaoO!! :( :( :(

even my yong tau foo no more kangkong already!

puii.

but nevermind. not a totally wasted date. because, before that, the baby went SHOPPING! hahahah

he insists he needs more clothes. ;) and luckily for him, quiksilver boutique was having end-of-season sale (i dunno what season sia.) AND 50% OFF STOREWIDE!!

hahahah! his berms that cost a hundred and eight bucks were now going at fifty-four!! :D :D :D happy-ness! BUT. no size. haha. (who ask you to be so small. ;) ;)) but he did get several tops, including a SINGLET. hahahah he's going to be a singlet-wearing-to-school boy. khekhehee.

my favourite therapy for suckysucky week of school and shitloads of overdue readings has to be a date with my love! :) :) YUMM!! ;)

|
| 3:09 pm

omg heavenly!! peach almond tart. they've got actual peach pieces in the tart too! omg, SO sedap!!

|
| 3:07 pm

i downed this baby early friday morning; coffee, BLACK.

|
Friday, September 22 | 2:30 am

i'm so f-tired.

to the point that all the light that seems to reach my eyes are a blinding yellow.
yiikes.

reports, deadlines, readings, tests, CAs - yes ladies and gentlemen, the mid sem break is here. oh, the irony.

break is to play catch-up, meet deadlines and study for tests&CAs.

i suggest it be called a different name.

and you know what i hate most about school?

people who come up to me and go
"i'm sure you've studied everything lah"
better versions include
"you study everything already riiiight.."
"you study everything already, you're making me stressed!"
"you study all the time, you don't need to worry what.."

oh, just shut the f up.

you're not with me 24/7, exactly how do you know that?
and honestly, what is your point of saying that?

few people do this to me anymore, and i am so thankful for that. but it really bugs me if it was a friend who said that to me. if you were really my friend, you would empathise with me, give me support and drive me to push on. you would ask how i am, the state of my studies and if i need help and encouragement.

now when you say that to me, i don't bother explaining. in fact, i don't even respond. i just clam up and pretend i didn't hear you. i'll let you believe whatever you wish to believe, if it makes you feel better about yourself.

at this point, i'm really thankful for those dears who really are my pillars of support. always telling me it's ok, come on now, take care of yourself, it'll be over soon, just a little bit more..

you know who you are, *hugs* i love you, all of you. :)

Monday, September 18 | 9:53 pm

i just wanted to mention the 4th Life Sciences Career Day that was held by NUS Office of Life Sciences last Saturday, the 16th of Sept.

reallyreally grateful to the organisers for bringing that to us!! :) :)

and once again, we felt like yes, YES WE HAVE HOPE!! hahaha there are so many life science-ers who are SO unsure of what to do, just cause we think there's only so much we can do. (read: wash test-tubes. thanks to mr. phil ip y eo.) and also, we think the market is only so big, but actually, it's got LOTS of opportunities - hugehuge plants being set up here; vaccine plants, gsk, millions and millions and hundreds of millions of dollars' worth. not to mention, big players like pfizer, albany, ge healthcare, lilly, j&j, etcetc whose regional headquarters are set up in singapore! whee! :) :) A NEW LEASE OF LIFE!!

oh yah, but i also hear, msia or jb or somewhere-in-there they wanna start up a whole biomed scene too, or sthg. but i'm not too worried about that. (as yet.) cause, i think singapore has the fundamental infrastructure established, and thanks to mr phi lip ye o, we really are earning the name as the biopolis of asia. and i'm quite confident in saying this now cause i've actually met people (from europe and america) who specifically applied to work with a*star here. cause they've read and heard so much about it. (- those who weren't personally invited.) i say, the marketing musta worked man!

and once again, i find myself confused!! haha. just when i thought i had decided for good what i wanted to do, they tempt me with a whole buffet of options! :p in fact, in the feedback form, they asked "The event has helped me identify an area of interest for my career." (or sthg like that.) and i ticked disagree, and i added - in a good way! there were so many options presented to me today that i am even more confused now! haha.

they also had prof patrick casey (vice dean of duke-nus gms) come down and give a talk. omg the curriculum structure looks so exciting! haha. it's definitely challenging; so much they packed into four years! within four short years, you would have completed a year (as compared to two in most med schools in the states, and also in nus) of theory - the basic biochem, phys, anat, pharm etc, a year for clinics - seeing patients and rotation of the various depts, a year of benchwork research (!! :D :D) - which can include bench-to-bedside research, ie. clinical trials, and a last year of electives. so cool!

and then zat asked me why i stopped considering the gms. and what is stopping me from going for it. i started to think, but i didn't have to think very far. in half a second, i answered her "the mcat." HAHA. i can't BEAR to take the mcat!! maakk. too banyak studying siaa. pengsan. it's got like CHEM (phys AND ORG!! DIE. i think i hire kak hanna to tutor me hor. HAHA.) and PHYSICS, and writing of course. haha. dunno lah see how. but i'm still time and again so tempted by the profession, not just the clinician bit, but the clinician-scientist bit! haha. you get to do both!

hatta asked me - you have to see patients and do research, you got time meh?
me - no lah, you split your work hours between patients and research lah.
him - then if you don't see patients as much as other regular drs, does that make you a lousier dr?
me - no lah, your job is not the same as theirs.. both patients and research constitutes your profession.. a regular dr or surgeon's focus should be on their patients i guess.. whereas the clinician-scientist types can focus on bringing their research to bedside application..

his questions got me thinking a bit, which was a good thing. and i'm glad i was able to answer confidently. i'm glad i realised that going for the gms does not mean still chasing the mbbs dream. it's a different ballgame. it's a different niche, and i sure hope the niche is played out. :)

yayy! ok now, back to the today. which means the term paper, the projects which they're suddenly dumping on us (earlier never say, then now so late they want us to work miracle is it.), the upcoming CAs and the pile of reading that is TOTALLY BUILDING UP!! (oh yah, the other day, the solemn promise i made to myself to start reading immuno at 8am the next day? totally broke it. haha. i had dental that morning which i totally forgot about, until right before i went to sleep! haha. so immuno still down in the dumps! aahh!!)

so what am i still doing here?

|
| 1:14 am

i just really looked at the nokia starlight cinema schedule, and it actually looks pretty good!

they're showing mi2&3 in one night, and xmen1&2 on another. and there's a couple of ladies' nights, and they're screening just like heaven, and then the break up!! total chick flicks!! ladies night basically is a one-for-one entry. one ticket admits a guy-girl couple or two ladies! ;) there's also campus nights, also one-for-one entry for students, and they're showing dark water and king kong those nights.

oh and there's gonna be dead man's chest too!!

and it's gonna be at the padang!! i only remember ever going to the ones at fort canning park.

darniiiiit, i can't go.

sure would love to.

wouldn't want these tickets to go to waste, so somebody please have them! it's worth $30, i just checked. haha.

and screenings are from 28th sept to 7th oct.

ok leave me a msg if you want it!

|
Sunday, September 17 | 11:57 pm

not for my hair though. although i wish it were. hurr.

ok so.

fri 8th sept - bday surprise for adila and aisyah(well sort of.)!! ;) we COOKED! NO KIDDING!! and it was suuperb. we did have recipes, but along the way, either we messed up and then the dish turned out miraculously fine, or we decided to ditch the recipe. so in the end, everything was like ceplokceplok, we threw in whatever we could find and we thought worked. AND IT DID!! everything worked!! from the cili padi in the shepherd's pie, the (exact)recipe-less swedish chicken salad, the banana chocolate cake turned chocolate banana, the coarse frosting which turned out suuperb against the soft warm cake, right down to the mistaken orange colouring resulting in orang flavoured lychee jelly! ok so there are photos, but not of smelly, kitchened out, maid-looking, tudungless mintuds, but of food, GLORIOUS food! oh oh, we even had neat setting ok, nice matching plates and glasses, complete with dim lighting! (haha that's just how elly's house is.) ;P

sat 9th sept - met the speakinglondons! ;) ayampenyet ria @ lucky plaza for dinner, and b&j's for dessert!! :) :) of course, the memories, the reminiscing, the stories, the catching-up, all good stuff. :)

tues 12th sept - with sya, @airport, popeye's for dinner, to see marsie off! oh oh, also free pacific coffee's caramel chillino in LARGE!! :D oh and i found out i killed my camera earlier that day. :( ok so, it was a teary goodbye. with all the family, the kids and fatbaby! missing you babe, and always wishing you the best! sending *huugs* to manchester! :)

sat 16th sept - i love the prada!!! *DIES* i was totally hyperventilating, lovedlovedloved the CLOTHES!! aaaahh!! i would so wear those clothes!! but besides the COST and singapore's baking climate, i also wear tudung. kwakwakwaa. haha. whatev, i still LOVE it! oh yes. read the book, and the plot is totally different, but TOTALLY better!! :) :) the concept's the same, but the story is so SO much better!! :D aaahh!! i am right now downloading as many screenshots as i can find to make the desktop wallpaper. hee. loved the outfits!! i wanna see them on my desktop EVERYDAY! hahahaha. ;p

size 0 is the new 2. i'm a six. which is the new 14.

ok so after the prada, we b&j-ed. (again, for me.) and then, i waited for the boyfriend to come meet me, and so i shopped! and because the boyfriend took so long, i bought 4 tops and a bag, spending over a hundred bucks in less than a couple of hours. much needed shopping! plus, blame the movie!! whet my appetite only. ;) and dhoby xchange (where i was) is having some kind of promotion (because they have like zero traffic), and when you spend $40 or more in a single receipt, you get admission for two to nokia's starlight cinema!! whee!! i think we went a couple of years back, and tickets were like $15 a person? or sthg like that. and now i get FREE!! but. in bulan puasa laah. can't go, bummer.

so i'm giving it up! who wants?? see http://www.starlightcinema.com/sg/ for details.

ok taa!~

|
| 11:47 pm

i fell in love! loved the movie, loved the CLOTHES (oh the CLOTHES!), loved the MAKEUP!! loved the hairr!!

|
| 11:46 pm

zat's favourite accessory and one of my favourite looks from the movie. OMG. i am so getting my hands on all the screenshots! aaahh!!

|
| 11:41 pm

(another) b&j's sundaee for me, two straight saturdays in a row. (die.) this was new york super fudge chunk, chunky monkey (my ex-favourite) and chocolate chip cookie dough (my new love)! :D

|
| 11:39 pm

we (well, i) FINALLY got a seat at the stage area! yayy!! the many times i've been there, i've never gotten a seat there! see the drums in the back? yupp. bands perform there. :) the saturday right before, i was there with the speakinglondons and there was a young band performing, whom we speculated to be from aussieland. (because now we think we damn expert on differentiating accents. ;) wakhakhaha.)

|
| 11:36 pm

whee!

|
| 11:36 pm

b&j's cows! hehe (but damn dirty sia the cushion.)

|
| 11:30 pm

sya and i had popeye's dinner and read our notes (!!) into the night. waahh eyes damn tiired sia. hehe. but was worth it!! and marsie darling was off! :) :)

|
| 10:50 pm

2nd course - swedish chicken salad. totally cool recipe. salad cream, mayonnaise and curry powder makes up the dressing. and tossed with shredded chicken, basmati rice and a variety of fruits! ooh momma! YUMM!

oh ya. forgot to take picture of first course!! oregano toasted baguettes (i made up the name myself!) with soup! mushroom and garlic. ;) YUMMYY! and also PRETTYY! wasted never take photo. :P

|
| 10:48 pm

yummy warm shepherd's pie, slathered with melted cheese, made extra SPICYY!! as we were frying, no matter how much we peppered it, black or white, and no matter how much curry powder we threw in (as a desperate attempt to crank up the taste), it still wasn't fiery enough!! then elly found like 4 little babies of red cili padi. WHOAA! job done. ;)

|
| 10:46 pm

lychee konyaku jelly!! with accidental orange essence, which was mistaken to be and then assumed to give orange colouring. but it turned out pretty good! quite good in fact. cause the orange flavour gave it a little twang. hee.

|
| 10:41 pm

happy birthdaaayy to you twoo!! hehehe homemade chocolate banana cake and chocolate frosting!! (babes, we totally rocked the kitchen.) ;)

|
| 10:39 pm

a year and one day ago, i left for the biggest journey of my life. i learnt so much, i grew, i matured and i found my independence.

an hour ago, one of my best friends in the whole wide world set off for the same journey. may she find what she seeks to discover.

i pray for you, my dear, that your path only be filled with
the most of joys, simply to keep you laughing;
the littlest of troubles, only to help you grow;
the most of excitement, simply to keep you jumping;
and the littlest of yearnings, only to draw you back home.

i am already awaiting your return. *hugs*

OMG. i've been wanting to mention for awhile now.

have you ever taken the portsdown rd exit along aye, from nuh exit heading towards town? OMG.

apparently that army camp is like some kinda base for the imf. and OMG.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAAAAT MANY BMW 7SERIES IN ONE PLACE!! IN ONE SITTING.

ALL GLEAMING AND SHINY.

black (my fave), dark blue, grey, beige, EVERY COLOUR THEY HAVE!!

many sia. like 40-50 beemers sitting innocently, GLEAMING proudly, tempting and teasing you.

AAAAAAAHH! dies.

for the imf delegates. the VIPs duh. siiigh. so jealous.

i wanted to take photo, but we were in the car. and can't get a good angle from inside the car duh. ok maybe next time i try. :p

immuno lab. was. today. -dies-

gimme another week and i will surrender to immuno. buay tahan ah.
i'm officially four fucken lectures behind. if you do the math, that's since school started.

immuno's content is SO daunting laaah. so i keep putting off reading the text. and i do other readings and assignments, and a few times now, it came to the point that i had nothing else to doo!! so i youtubed and i blogged and photoloaded. (like now.)

then, it results in me understanding no shit during lab and tutorial. right, fuck.

really ah. shitass-scared liao. okok, i make a solemn promise to start on immunology tomorrow. in fact, i shall put off going to the lab, and hole myself up in the central library from 8am. :D

OH. GUESS WHAT. so i bought this beautiful baby called n73 right. and in the pack, there were lotsa manuals and shit. and i happened to pick up this one regarding registering online and if you do, you stand to win 365 4R prints from kodak. if you are the first 1000 to register.

GUESS WHAT. I AM!!! and so, two days ago, in the mail, I RECEIVED VOUCHERS FOR 365 PHOTO PRINTS!! hahahahha. ok i'm not so much excited about the prints, but more the I WON SOMETHING!! hahahahaha. ok technically, it wasn't a contest, hence not technically a win. BUT STILL. i never got something SIGNIFICANT for free. (not from people. from companies and stuff like that.)

so, YAAYYY!!

(but my kakak was quick to add - she says the first 1000 thing is probably a gimmick. wahlau. i thought i special, i first 1000 sia. it better not be a gimmick. :p)

ok das ist alles! tschuss! :)

thank you mr buncit chef!!

|
| 1:58 pm

yesterday, sya, mars and i had lunch at sakura international buffet! right across from sde - school of design and environment. between kent vale and masjid tentera. haha!

it has been on marsie's list of places to eat before she leaves. so sya and i decided to go there with her! :D

not bad leh. $2O/= for buffet. and omg. we definitely ate more than our twenty bucks' worth. or at least, we TOOK more than our twenty bucks' worth. eating it was another story altogether. haha. it's easy to "i want, i want!" but DAMN DIFFICULT to actually eat EVERYTHING!! hahahaha.

the food is GOOD!! ok the taste is not like superfantastic or what lah, but the spread is suuuuperb. SO MANY THINGS TO EAT!!

let me try listing them.
singapore fried bee hoon, fried rice, 8-12 local style dishes like tempura fish, fried chicken cutlets with some sauce, oat fish, calamari, tofu, and some other stuff i didn't really notice. not interested. haha.
cold dishes! salads - prawn&fruit, crab mayo, seafood, thai seafood, tofu and chicken. plus the usual greens, cherry tomatoes and dressing.
cold seafood! with lemon and dressing. mussels, prawns. don't think there was crayfish. (the one at downtown had crayfish.)
satay - chicken and beef.
otak-otak, shimosa(?) - some small almost-dried fried fish.

kangkong and cuttlefish with satay sauce.
some green veg with abalone.

lobster soup, shark's fin soup.
laksa, paper steamboat soup - YECH. haha. very not to our liking. ;p
fried finger food ala old chang kee - crab's claw, prawn fritters, samosa, potato wedges.
dim sum!! lor mai kai, char sao bao, siew mai and one more i forgot the name.

and this was just the lower floor.

now we move to the second floor:
chicken chop, lamb chop, steak and grilled dory.
three types of pasta, five types of pizza.
aaaaaaaaand SUSHIIIIIIII!! hahaha i'm quite a sushi freak. ;p aaaall the types possible. i don't know their names. raw, cooked, all there.
udon. (didn't notice. remember one of the girls pointing it out though.)

and DESSERT!!
like two types of pudding, three flavours of konnyaku and chinchow.
a gabijillion CAKES!! oreo cheese, marble cheese, peppermint choc, coffee wafer, mango, strawberry - and these are just the ones that caught my eye.
and MOCHII!!! OMG. MARS DID YOU REALISE WE NEVER GOT TO EAT OUR MOCHI!! sya and i were thinking and then we were like ehhh where did it go ahh?? HAHAHAHA. mochi in THREE colours ok!! :(
jackfruit in syrup!
usual cut fruits.
ice-cream in six flavours? the usual flavours, and of course toppings.

ok. that's about all i remember. and of those listed, about 90% made it to our table. HAHA. but not necessarily into our tummies. tsk tsk. GREEDY GIRLS. :(

so worth $20! hehe. so much to choose from!! :) :)

today i told zat about it, and she got so excited and she's like "can we go sometime, can we go for buka??" waaaah haha YAAYY!! :D

when hatta heard it was $20, he say "why never call me! so cheap!" hahahaha.

oh yah. the greedy girls were so full after lunch. the mention of food and the sight of it made us queasy. HAHA! no kidding, i swear! we were walking out, then along the road the sakura advertisement banners caught my eye, and my head was tilted upwards looking at it, and i'm like *burp*, queasy - look down, look down!

after that, the use of the word "eat" was prohibited. haha. so was laughing. or coughing. haha.

and the greedy girls fasted today! hahahaha for penance. ;)

photos!

//edit. stoooopid hello and blogger. can't upload photos now. :P til next time then!//
